8112 Digital Coupons 2025?Are the 8112 Digital Coupons going to finally begin to take off in 2025? Many of the Readers have thought or hoped that this would happen in 2023 or 2024. The Commerce Code Podcast #181: Digitizing Coupons (posted on YouTube yesterday) seems to believe so.
On the podcast are:
Brett Watson and Jeff Hudson of The Coupon Bureau
and
Avinash Chukka of Cardyltics
The podcast assumes the listener knows nothing about 8112 Digital Coupons. I would assume that most of the Readers here know all the mechanics of basic Digital Coupons. This part of the podcast is addressed by The Coupon Bureau.
The next part of the podcast looks at Cardyltics business model which is to provide an information conduit between the major card companies and their customers. The Card Company has had the view of the spend per location, but not the detail. Caryltics mines the details of the what’s in the basket at each location the customer uses their credit card. I would assume then that the Card Company then uses the basket analytics to use the basket detail to monetize the information with CPG’s to further target marketing campaigns.
The updated Coupon information begins after 18:30 of the podcast. The Coupon Bureau provides the update that the 1
st US national retailer will be rolling out 8112 Digital Coupons before the end of 2024 (Brett Watson indicates in the next 6 to 8 weeks). She also advises that 77 CPG companies are waiting for the 8112 Digital Coupon rollout by this national retailer. TCB then suggest that because of the national retailer rolling out 8112’s for the 77 CPG’s, other national retailers would likely follow in 2025.
If the Reader is a newbie to 8112 Digital Coupons, start at the beginning of the podcast; otherwise, start listening around 18:30.
