RE:on AMA meeting results
RE:on AMA meeting resultsI'm hopeful for change in code 99454 and 99457. A minimum 16 measurement days restricts many beneficial monitoring programs where fewer measurements have been proven clinically adequate. Even politicians have figured this out. The House Energy and Commerce health subcommittee passed a bill to lower the data reporting threshold for remote monitoring down to two days back in May.
Code 99457 reform has to happen. 20 minutes minimum is just to high. Doctors are discouraged from continuing to support their patients if either the doctor or the patient have only 15 minutes of time. The AMA has to reform the codes to ensure that providers are paid appropriately for their time and services.
