RE:after all that spending , no revenue growth We'll have to wait to find out what the fee schedule will look like. Surely the CRTC doesn't want to eliminate the big boys, just hold them back a little.
It is the larger telecoms that build out infrastructure, not the discount carriers. Until the goverment (ie taxpayer) builds this infrastructure, they should not have a say in how the business is run. Private corporations have to be able to make a profit, otherwise they become non-existent (Nortel). Governments can and do continue to spend beyond their means, leaving taxpayers on the hook to fund all the waste.
Bell et al are pushing back, cutting infrastructure and jobs, as they need to reduce expenditures amid lower revenue expectations. However, keep in mind that Canadian immigration is running about 500 thousand a year, many of whom buy cellphones and internet service. Someone will benefit.
I wouldn't count Bell out yet. But I also wouldn't want to have too large a position!
