RE:RE:I wonderOctober 14, 2024.- The Mexican Business Council for Foreign Trade, Investment and Technology (COMCE) has appointed Mr. Armando Ortega as President of the Mexico-Canada Bilateral Committee, in recognition of his extensive experience in commercial and political relations between both nations. Armando Ortega is currently Senior Vice President Mexico of Equinox Gold and has played a key role as head of the Mining Task Force at the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Mexico (CanCham). His experience in the sector is supported by a solid academic background: he is a lawyer from the Escuela Libre de Derecho, where he taught a seminar on International Law for 20 years, and has postgraduate studies in International Trade from ITAM. With more than 18 years of experience in International Trade Negotiation at the Ministry of Economy, Ortega has been instrumental in the creation of the antidumping system in Mexico and has participated in key negotiations such as the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and the Agreement between Mexico, the United States and Canada (T-MEC). He also served as Country Manager of New Gold, among other relevant positions.
