Chihuahua attractive for foreign investmentsChihuahua joins Mexico's semiconductor boom: Which cities will benefit? The Chihuahua government offered tax incentives, legal certainty, peace and quiet, as well as hydraulic infrastructure to semiconductor manufacturing companies. Chihuahua is joining the semiconductor route
that includes the
states of Arizona and Texas in the United States, Governor
Mara Eugenia Campos reported after a meeting with the Taiwan Semiconductor Industry Association (TSIA).
The state governor and businessmen from Ciudad Jurez met with executives from Foxconn, Invectec, Pegatron, Winstron and representatives of companies not yet established in Chihuahua territory, achieving investments of more than 1.3 billion dollars and the creation of 11 thousand new jobs.
What did Chihuahua agree to join the semiconductor route? The
Chihuahua government offered tax incentives, legal certainty, peace and tranquility, as well as hydraulic infrastructure, electricity supply, talent development and support for those seeking to contribute to the development of the local economy.
Likewise, during this trade mission to Taiwan, it was agreed to train graduates from Chihuahua universities in that Asian country and to develop the Anapra sector in Ciudad Jurez in terms of improving transportation and security in collaboration with the company Foxconn.
It was also agreed to train more than one hundred employees together with the Pegatron company in Taiwan, and the construction of a technological campus was proposed, which includes five buildings and a hotel on the border with Chihuahua.
Investments for cities in Chihuahua Campos Galvn held important meetings with senior executives of companies such as United Microelectronics Corporation, one of the main
semiconductor producers worldwide, to whom he presented the potential that Ciudad Jurez has in this sector.
Mara Eugenia Campos highlighted that Chihuahua is a watershed in
innovation and foreign policy, being the
first state in Mexico to be invited as a guest of honor by the authorities and the business sector to Taiwan, to develop a collaboration agenda of this magnitude.
For Chihuahua capital, the project will be worth 825 million dollars and 6,000 jobs for Foxconn. The company will expand processes of strategic importance.
In Ciudad Jurez, the investment will be 500 million dollars and 5 thousand jobs by Pegatron, with investments from the State Government.
TSMC is expected to arrive to anchor its production at its plant in Phoenix, Arizona.
Technology companies that are already in Chihuahua In the state, important companies in the
electronics industry, mainly from that Asian country, employ more than 121 thousand people, with the Taiwanese Cluster in Jurez responsible for the production of half of the servers of companies such as
Amazon, Meta, Microsoft and Google .
In addition, personal computers from companies such as Dell and HP are entirely manufactured by the Chihuahua workforce, and are sold all over the world.
The
electrical-electronic industry , in terms of semiconductors and particularly in the area of next-generation artificial intelligence servers, has invested around 2 billion dollars and generated nearly 20 thousand jobs in the last 3 years.
The state has installed capacity that offers competitive advantages and high potential for integration into processes in the value chain of the semiconductor industry, such as component manufacturing, assembly processes, materials supply, semiconductor manufacturing and design centers.
Strengthening these supply chains will improve global competitiveness and foster growth in high-tech manufacturing sectors.
Chihuahua is a national leader in the
export of electronic products, with more than 37 percent of the total, which is why Governor Maru Campos is working to attract investments and strengthen relations with companies in the aerospace and semiconductor industries.
