Good to know. Maybe could could help the posters challenged on the subject!

Way back in 1961 when I started at University of Montreal - Hautes Etudes Commerciales - my first book (I will never forget it) was "Principles of Accounting" (dark green hard cover).

Since I am French Canadian and my command of English was rather poor as a teenager, the contents of that book were a challenge but... eventually... I got it!

All in all it is pretty simple. On the balance sheet - on the left side of the ledger you have assets and on the right side you have liabilities and shareholders equity.

On the profit and loss statement you first add the revenues, then the expenses, calculate the difference and that tells you if you have a profit or a loss.

Piece of cake!
