RE:RE:RE:Cash is trash... againpeople don't buy higher yielding equities just for income, they buy them because they have higher income AND lower beta/less volatility (this does not apply to A shares of bank split corps which although their underlying securities are low vol /high yield, A shares are opposite: high volatility and yield).
Alternative to an income strategy would be to hold superstar high ROE stocks like costco for a long time, and sell shares when you need money, + pay less tax on cap gains too. This does not work of course in prolonged down markets, where you would have to pull out capital at a loss
