West Red Lake Gold Mines Ltd. (Ticker: WRLG.v or WRLGF for US investors), recently shared multiple updates on its near-term Madsen Mine, detailing significant milestones for restarting gold production and outlining new exploration priorities for 2025,
Restart Readiness: Key Updates
WRLG's infrastructure upgrades at its Madsen Mine in the prolific Red Lake Gold District, are pivotal to its transition from development to production, streamlining operations and ensuring readiness for a 2025 gold production restart.
These developments include the Connection Drift, a 1.2-km haulage way linking the West and East Portals, being 50% complete and on track for March 2025 completion. Additionally, a primary crusher has been installed and commissioned, supporting reliable material processing, while a 114-person workforce camp with full accommodations is being installed to support site activity.
These developments, alongside ongoing test mining, drilling, and mine planning, demonstrate WRLG’s focus on sustainable and efficient gold production.
Fork Deposit Re-Envisioned
WRLG recently shared plans to prioritize the Madsen's Fork Deposit in 2025 as part of its hub-and-spoke operational model, designed to integrate high-grade resources into the Madsen Gold Project's production pipeline.
The Fork Deposit, located approximately 250m southwest of the Madsen underground development, features a shallow, high-grade gold zone. Historic drilling results highlight the deposit's potential for rapid expansion through surface drilling, with intercepts such as:
-
13.05m @ 13.97 g/t Au, including 3.63m @ 30.79 g/t Au
-
9.3m @ 8.14 g/t Au, including 0.7m @ 85.7 g/t Au
-
1.3m @ 50.48 g/t Au, including 0.2m @ 169.09 g/t Au
Upcoming PFS
WRLG is also finalizing a pre-feasibility study (PFS) for the Madsen Gold Project. This study will offer comprehensive insights into the project's economics, engineering, and operational strategies, providing critical guidance for the company's restart decision. The PFS is expected to be released soon, aligning with WRLG's target to restart operations at Madsen in the second half of 2025.
The Madsen Mine currently has an NI 43-101 compliant Indicated resource of 1.65Moz of gold at 7.4 g/t Au and an Inferred resource of 0.37Moz at 6.3 g/t Au, demonstrating significant high-grade gold potential.
With its focus on infrastructure upgrades, targeted exploration, and the upcoming PFS, WRLG is advancing toward its goal of becoming a significant gold producer in the prolific Red Lake Gold District, positioning the Madsen Mine as a cornerstone of its long-term growth strategy.
