RE:RE:RE:First time buyer todayI am a Bell shareholder with a significant holding and I have Bell's Virgin plan which allows 1000 minutes to call from Canada to a list of say up to 18 countries, the list changes from time to time, mostly countries where Canada has brought in a lot of immigrants historically, i.e. a targeted market.
In March we went on vacation to India and we had some issues with hotel bookings and it was extremely convenient to pick up our Cell and call India for free. This March 2025 we are going to Japan and a similar experience again. WHATS NOT TO LIKE ...
So Bell has an advantage here through their subsidiary but I recall you have to purchase your plan and/or cell phone from a retailer and request the plan, or simply the sales agent advises you ... Bell has had this for years ...
TELECOMS REAL ADVANTAGE OVER WHATS APP IS THAT YOU HAVE TO REGISTER ON WHATS APP. WHATS APP HAS BEEN AROUND FOR A LONG TIME AND I DONT THINK IT POSED ESSENTIAL RISK TO TELECOMS.
NEW FREEDOM DOES ... A new incumbent ready to take losses or sell product for free IS NOT GOOD. However, this will not last since they will have to show income to shareholders and to support debt to creditors.
THE TELECOM ADVANTAGE is that you use the same telephone number with inbound calls from Canada as well as outbound. NEW FREEDOM has combined the outbound (similar to Bell) with free inbound calls from a foreign country to Canada. VERY NICE AND A WINNING PROPOSITION. However I am even tempted by this offer since we travel alot ... Our friends can call us from Canada on our same telephone number and we could call to Canada to our friends and handle bill problems, etc and everyone can return our calls. HOWEVER THIS OFFER WILL NOT LAST SINCE I THINK A TELCOM WANTS THIS EXTRA CASH FLOW AND THE WORLD SIMPLY DOES NOT OPERATE ON FREE OR AT COST FOR A PROLONGED PERIOD OF TIME.
I would be more concerned about Musk and satellite internet ... SOMETHING TO WATCH CAREFULLY . Works in the war in Ukraine!!
