RE:RE:RE:RE:US/Canada Union - similar to EU

RE:RE:RE:RE:US/Canada Union - similar to EUGood point. The US forgot how the Canadian Banking institutions, saved their azz more or less, in 2009 when they just about declared Bankruptcy. Trump is too proud to apologize.

Under a Trump administration, the province of Quebec will be treated like 3rd class citizens, behind English and Spanish Americans. Just look at how Trump treats Puerto Rico... remember the "floating island of garbage," a joke Trump never rebuked.

You and Sham are totally right on the crime side, and you on RE and with respect to valuation and monitary laws. We would not be able to set our own interest rates, our monitary & fiscal policy, and there would only be a central bank. Unfortunately only the "FED". Further, we would rely on the generosity of the "Fed" to support our social programs such as hospitals, and our Infrastructure. We are so isolated here with the USA on this continent, that we would have to abide with the USA's demands. The USA wouuld turn us into the Detroits and Bufalo's of the North with their crime and poverty as well.

Until the US can resolve their Immigration problem with Mexico and every other southern illegal migrating country into the USA. That is always going to weigh in as a problem to join them economically. It makes me shutter to think of the social and economic consequences of that kind of union to our country.

flamingogold wrote: No thank you. A Can-US union would instantly crush real estate valuations here. That may good news for those looking to get in but millions would forever be laden with unrepayable debt. And while Canadians and Americans are similar on many fronts, we differ strongly on our view of gun ownership. We are not interested in having our neighbourhoods infiltrated with weapons.

Letsmakemoredol wrote: First, let me make this clear I am not advocating a merger of Canada and the USA, but what about a similar economic union such as the EU?  For those who have been to EU you will note they have a common currency, you have freedom to drive from France to Germany without customs and if you want to go and work in Germany you are free to do so while still being French and maintaining France as a soverign country.

What's wrong with that?  It could be very good for the citizens of the US and Canada and particularly business
