RE:RE:RE:Irrational marketsThanks Wellnowexpert for your kind words..
Yes I agree that yje more information you get pro and con helps one make better investment decisions. It's why I must adnit that I smirk when I see posts saying that since I don't own a stock or have negative comments that i should leave the Board. Seems these people would rather live in an eco chamber than be make informed decisions which would help them make more money and achieve their retirement objectives.
Your comment about salesperson is well-taken. Most (all) brokerage houses hire people with an aptitude for sales - not their actual knowledge of investments. This is not say that some of those hires are good at both. The trick as a client is to find one with both.
In the case of BCE, I suspect that I have owned the company longer than many here have walked this earth. The company was one of my long term core positions.I reluctantly sold half my position in the high 40s and later sold the rest in the mid to high 30s. My regret (hindsight is always 20/20) is that I didn't sell all of it in the 40s.
That said, I don't believe BCE is done but I do think that unlike in the past where they made some bonehead decisions which were one-offs and the company could and did recover from that mistake, the situation now is more systematic and pervasive. There will come a time when the market has priced all this in and there may well be a strong argument for reloading. IMO we are not there yet.
