I am not sure this is true or not that copper landline will be decommissioned in 2025. Many homes keeping the copper landline just for the security system which can use the copper line when power failure happens. If so, traditional home phone users may migrate to much cheaper voice over IP phone. Although this might have happened for years but this will trigger a lot of shuffle of services in 2025. So 2025, is a battle year for telcos.
Just my personal comment. BCE yield has been at the range of 5-6% for decades. If BCE would cut the dividend by half and survive, may simple minded retail investors (i.e. widow and orphan) could be happy to keep BCE.
