RE:RE:Longer term problem

RE:RE:Longer term problemBonjour Pierre
I think we all know that when a polician says "they" are going to do something, we know that they mean they will put the policies in place to make these things happen, and not actually do it themsleves. Trump likes to make it sound like it is HIM doing it (because he has insufferably large ego) but we all know that he means that he, and his team, will create the polcies that will allow USA petroleum production to thrive.
The more pertinent question is, "can a change in the USA government's attitude and policies really increase USA production?" Tyler has a point. Many oil analysts say that American oil production can't grow much because the best geology has already been drilled off. Although I am Canadian I never write off American ingenuity and innovation. Before horizontal drilling and fracking was improved it was thought that USA oil production would be flat or would decline. Lo and behold, out comes some knew drilling technology (I think some of that came from the canadian oil patch as well) and the USA zoomed past Russia and Saudi Arabia to become the world's biggest oil producer (nat gas too). What is the moral of the story, "When it come to buiness it is unwise to underestimate the Americans."
