U.S. Energy Legislation info

U.S. Energy Legislation infoThe National Electricity and Environmental Technology Act (H.R. 2323) Read the entire text of HR 2323 here: https://thomas.loc.gov/ ABEC supports the National Electricity and Environmental Technology Act (NEET) as an important step in the development of a comprehensive, balanced energy policy for America. ABEC believes that an energy policy must include: a mix of fuel sources; investments in the infrastructure to support increased energy generation and efficiency; and, investments in new technologies and environmental regulations based on sound science and cost-benefit analyses. This is the only way we will have the energy we need for the future at a price everyone can afford, while balancing our country's need for a clean environment. NEET proposes a balanced approach to electricity generation by promoting the continued use of coal without sacrificing the environment. This legislation provides an annual budget of $100 million over ten years for the U.S. Department of Energy's development and implementation of clean coal technologies. The funds would be used to: accelerate research and development programs for advanced clean coal technologies; provide financial incentives to encourage new construction of coal-based power plants that employ clean coal technologies; and, provide financial incentives to existing coal-fired power plants to purchase and use new technology that will enable them to continue their quest for cleaner ways to produce affordable electricity. The following members of the U.S. House of Representatives have already signed on as co-sponsors in support of this legislation. If your Representative is on this list, please thank them for their support. If your Representative is not on this list, please contact them and ask them to sign on as a co-sponsor.
