Some room for FCO / need the permit

Some room for FCO / need the permitCOBALT MARKET Cobalt is a strategic and critical metal used in many diverse commercial, industrial, and military applications. The largest use of cobalt is in super alloys, which are essential in the fabrication of gas turbine aircraft engines. Cobalt is also used to make magnets; corrosion- and wear-resistant alloys; high-speed steels; carbide and diamond tools; petroleum refining and chemical industry catalysts; drying agents for paints, varnishes, and inks; pigments; battery electrodes; steel-belted radial tires and magnetic recording media. The principal growth area for cobalt is in the production of rechargeable batteries, particularly those for use in alternative fuel vehicles. Continually mounting environmental pressure on the burning of fossil fuels is spearheading the trend to the use of hybrid and electric vehicles in the world's transportation system. The preferred batteries in these vehicles use cobalt, the more cobalt, the better the battery performance. Studies by the US Department of Energy Office of Transportation Technology suggest that cobalt demand could increase from 40,000 tonnes per year in 2000 to 110,000 tonnes per year in 2015 driven mainly by the increased usage of cobalt in batteries. Other emerging markets for cobalt include inexpensive catalysts in fuel cells and magnets in miniaturized electric motors. GuyF
