RE: 2010 Olympics...
"BCE decided to CONSIDERABLY OUTBID Telus on the CASH paid up front and they also threw in millions for EXTRA goodies that the Committee loved__like even more cash to support Canadian athletes."
"Like I said, Darren was doing the right thing by simply controlling emotions/ego and walking away from the RECORD high bid that BCE put forward!__Ditto for the Rodgers bid for Fido!"
Red:
Being outbid is not the same as walking away. Telus LOST both bids.
"And THAT disciplined approach is what not only I as a shareholder want to see but also the markets the last two days have rewarded his shrewd decisions!"
Two days is a snapshot in time. You certainly are not looking at the negative impact longterm that losing the Olympic bid at home could have on Telus. Never mind the immediate embarassment.
"I just hope that he continues to have the stamina necessary to finally nail you and your TWU BC based buddies to that long overdue fresh new contract__WITHOUT blinking and NOT giving in to the easy way out and forever hamstringing the Telus bottomline!"
Check the latest quarterly reports. Don't see any evidence of employee induced weakness to the bottom line. Some mismanagement perhaps. In fact the employees seem to be doing more with less.
"This is his one and only chance to seal the fate for Telus__and ultimately the TWU workers/pensioners too!!"
You seem to have something against the B.C. employees in particular. They seem to be able to manage their pension plan just fine.
I agree Darren may seal the fate of Telus. He may get more than one chance however.
