Chokes & 39 Gravity

Chokes & 39 GravityNot my expertise but I do have a handle on some of this from my past. ~Choke - An accurate system usually built into a valve so you can tell how much you cracked it open without saying "'bout half way" You can monitor pressures as you open or close with precise movements. ~ 39 API Oil - API = Specific gravity, the higher the # the ligher (easier to flow), requires less refining to turn into high end product and get to market = paid more $$$ / barrel. ~ Although people may want to know full potetials of a well it is considered risky to crack it open to test at full potention as the rush of oil can siphon in any water the oil may be sitting on top of or near by. ***Slow and steady suck should prolong the life of the well / reservoir. ~ I used someone elses formula to calculate the flow which I would not want to be held accountable as it was a post on this site. If you took the specific gravity into account and doubled the size of the opening in the choke it more than doubled the production, closer to the 7 mark. FWIW Now we're talking my language. ~ Sonny7 - Doubting the cement job? Anything can happen, I wasn't there but...I've had cement jobs go sideways, circulated as much as we could out and hit it a second time. Between the drilling mud, first batch of cement and second kick at the cat, our logs indicated we had "inconsistant" cement/channelling. I believe good enough bond for hydraulic isolation at our zone and would hold back a frac in that zone but farther up or below???? Because we don't have all the details (OIL)and if they were at all worried about the bond to pipe/formation I would not open it up past 1/2 either. If isolation was a concern I would bring it on slower and move up to where they did, taking samples every hour or couple of hours to monitor the cut of oil. (Oil/water percentages) IMO LONG AND HARD + WISHING THIS WOULD RUN LIKE THE OTHER KIDS. Keep your stick on the ice!
