Alcoa completes acquisition 2 Russia plants Mon Jan 31, 2005 08:01 AM ET NEW YORK, Jan 31 (Reuters) - U.S. aluminum producer Alcoa Inc. (AA.N: Quote, Profile, Research) on Monday said it had completed the acquisition of two fabricating facilities in Samara and Belaya Kalitva in Russia from Russian producer RUSAL for $257 million cash. Alcoa said it intended to invest more than $80 million in capital and technology in these two facilities in 2005 which was included in its annual capital spending plan of about $2.5 billion. It expects 2005 earnings from these assets to be an after-tax loss of about $40 million.
