Re:The news!!!

Re:The news!!! Radiant Energy Announces the National Guard passes resolution to support InfraTek installation at Niagara Falls, NY 16:00 EST Tuesday, January 25, 2005 TSX Venture Exchange: RDT PORT COLBORNE, ON, Jan. 25 /CNW/ - Radiant Energy Corporation (TSX Venture: RDT) (the "Company"), developer and marketer of InfraTek(R), a patented, infrared pre-flight aircraft deicing system, today announces that the National Guard Association of the United States (NGAUS) passed a resolution to support an InfraTek installation at Niagara Falls, NY. On September 16, 2004, at the 126th NGAUS General Conference resolution C-8A titled "Related to Additive Funding Radiant Deicing Equipment for the Niagara Falls Reserve Station (107th AWR) to Accomplish Operational Test and Evaluation" was passed. This resolution provides for the installation of a radiant energy deicing system. The capability of this technology has been demonstrated during its continued utilization (now in its fifth year) at the Newark Liberty International Airport. The 107th is a National Test Center for Deicing Technology through the US Government Environmental Security Technology Certification Program as stated in the resolution. Validation and deployment of this radiant deicing technology could dramatically improve Air Mobility Command's cold weather capability at numerous bases in the U.S. and abroad. This system will provide a cost-effective method of deicing that addresses both environmental and readiness issues. The InfraTek system provides for a non-glycol based deicing system housed in an open-ended tent like facility. This shelter and equipment also adds to the operational capability of air wing operations for Homeland Defense and immediate Contingency response, by providing preflight/post-flight shelter and covered facility for mobility. Glycol-based deicing processes tested by the 107th were found to adversely impact Homeland Defense (NobleEagle) taskings for 24 hour alert and were found to be costly and had negative environmental side effects. The recent series of storms in the US Midwest severely impacted the scheduling of commercial flights from several major airports, resulting in numerous flight delays and cancellations. Additionally, the amount of glycol that was expended increased dramatically, and the ability to obtain additional supplies of glycol was negatively impacted by the storms, resulting in the inability of numerous flights to take off. NGAUS resolutions are used to support appropriation requests under the Military Appropriations Bill of the United States. Funding for the project in Niagara Falls is not guaranteed until the annual Military Appropriations Bill is passed. The 107th is seeking appropriations for the fiscal year commencing October 1, 2005. If successful with the appropriations, operational testing and evaluation of the InfraTek system at the Niagara Falls Air Base could occur in the winter of 2005-2006. The evaluation could result in a determination that InfraTek systems could be considered a solution to a system-wide cold weather preparedness problem for the Air Force. Colin Digout, President of Radiant Aviation Services stated, "The US military can benefit from the deployment of this deicing system at cold weather Air Force, National Guard, Army and Navy bases. The use of these systems could have significantly reduced the number of cancelled flights experienced by commercial carriers, in the US, during the recent snow and ice storms. By pursuing the installation of this system, NGAUS is demonstrating its resolve to ensure 24/7 launch capabilities at cold weather facilities in the U.S. and abroad throughout the year."
