Why not try comparing to the stock options offered in the oil patch. Juniors and startups give large options to management and it is then up to them to grow the company to make the options payoff. At the eary stages it can seem like the company is being given away, but if the management delivers the goods then it rapidly becomes a smart idea to reward the brains and keep them onboard and in the company Apples to oranges but the principal is roughly the same. This whole discussion is moot if the stock price rises over the next year or so to the $7-10 Can. range.
