RE: Cobalt
RE: Cobalt"I've watched what the US has been willing to sacrifice for a little "oil security" in Iraq. "
This is often the reason cited for the war by people against it. I personally think it is nonsense. If the US wanted to up oil production the answer was simple, pettiion UN to remove Iraq oil embargo, Saddam would have sold all of the Oil he could pump for cash. Problem solved with no war, no US loss of life, and no huge budget deficit because fo the cost. APrt from the Bush family aspect, this really was about WMD. The absolute fear that Sadam with the technology and the know how, and being very anti american, might pass some of this on to al Queda who had just demonstrated the could and would deliver it onto mainlan US. As a reason to go to war, it was illegal, but quite understandable.
Secondary objewctive is to turn Iraq into a functioning society, where more people benefit form oil currencies, consume good and return those oil dollars by buying at least some goods and services from the West.
Whereas I may be agreeing with the war here, I don't in anyway associte myself with the anti islamic bigotry of our good friend Don.
