"19/08/2005 Venezuela: Vinccler begins testing Este wells and building gas facility
The Canadian oil company PetroFalcon's Venezuelan subsidiary Vinccler Oil & Gas has started production testing at three wells at its Falcon Este Unit as well as building new gas processing facilities. Vinccler has drilled two new wells, the LV-9 and LV-10, at the La Vela field in 2005 and recently began production testing of these wells and the LV-7X well. At the LV-7X well production tests produced at 5.5 million cubic feet of gas a day (Mf3/d) and 210 barrels of oil a day (b/d) and the LV-9 well tested at 300b/d, with another formation remaining to be tested. LV-10 tested at 360b/d and 1Mf3/d of gas. Vinccler has a portfolio of approved drilling locations and intends to resume drilling operations in the Cumarebo and La Vela fields in the fourth quarter of 2005. At present the total oil production at Falcon Este is currently just 817b/d. The new production facilities on the La Vela field include a gathering system with capacity of 20Mf3/d of gas and 5,000b/d of oil. Completion of this work and initial gas sales into the 30-inch ICO gas pipeline currently under construction by state oil firm PDVSA are expected in late October, the company said. Natural gas production on the Cumarebo field is expected to begin in late 2005 or early 2006. ICO is a 400km-plus gas pipeline which will connect the rich natural gas deposits in Falcon state with the maturing oil fields and refineries that desperately need gas in the rest of the country, including Zulia state, home to PdVSA's western division. PetroFalcon also recently signed a preliminary agreement to change its operating agreement to an E&P joint venture controlled by PdVSA."
