New to this.

Based on some pretty substantial names recently saying this is a good possibility, and trusting that the last three drill reports are honest, I bought shares yesterday. Is it a long term situation here, in which a small business team and explorers,  have attempted to keep the company alive, drills turning and challenge the leads wherever attempts showed prospect( in some very bad years)? Because , to the new comer, that doesnt look so perilous, for the fact that they have maintained full ownership while masses of small companies simply couldn't keep afloat, much less explore effectively, much less go for a low grade gold , only to almost accidentally stumble into shallow high grade. To say nothing of any other mixed bag hit. In US $ , with that scenerio, 0.70 /share does not seem a bad gamble. Have most of you been here for a long while and are holders from a higher share price? I think it a challenge for one and all , if things have been struggling, though ambitiously, to keep the hopes alive. But coming in here, at this particular time, it seems everyone would have some adjusting to do , given these new finds. And as drilling continues, I would think some pretty big eyes will be watching and waiting. In no way am I questioning any of your assessment of this head team nor what hoops have been gone through to keep this thing on track. Could someone please explain the meaning of a 2017 3 qtr RE, and what it might accomplish for the current project? I am thankful for those who have supported or appear to have hung on here. I am in , and am missing some info though I have read company news, analyst's reports and many posts here. Thankyou in advance. All said above is IMO.

The company has been looking to release a resource estimate for the gold properties of Martinere and Bug Lake zones. The problem is everytime they believe they are looking to complete drilling for the estimate they keep finding more gold zones. This is a difficult predicament to be in for the short term shareholders but is a problem any gold exploration company would like to have. Cheers

Sheps, I agree with you and I think I mentioned the same a while back. Some here keep blaming no RE with share price dropping but anyone eyeing (the ones that count) BAR gets it.  My my buddy was saying the other day I bet other explorers wish they had this problem.  We may never see an RE.

without a current resource you open yourself up to stinky premium on a hostile buyout
Comment by BOCKHO3 on Feb 07, 2017 8:45pm
blueray: could you explain what you mean with that seeming threat,  of a hostile takeover , due to no resources? ? How, when, who? What are the stats for a company like this , with two fresh and separate metals cooking? I am new  enough here , that a "stinky premium" sounds so down and out. Would appreciate your clarification of all that doom and gloom, asap, please. TIA ...more

pg 36 of lastest presentation says management has 4% of shares........if someone were to make an offer this week say for the 52 week high price @1.28 it would be gone. Most of those 15% of institutional investors cost is probably less than 50 cents. The so called HIgh net worth people would take it in a minute. it won't be Detour

blueray, don't worry I'm not going to accept $1.28. It's better when you have a high percentage of retail investors than institutional investors. Generally if it was an institution or two with majority of shares it's a better chance of getting deal done and quickly as they are happy with a profit and they move on to next deal. 81% retail and 4% management/insiders much tougher to ...more

I have not done a detailed comparison; but several things seem rather obvious for all of us to consider. When Detour Gold was taking shape, a constant stream of positive commentary appeared in the financial/business press. The actual G/T read outs at Detour -from memory-were lower than the read outs we are getting. So basically BAR is richer that Detour at this stage. Detour and BAR are seemingy ...more

Agree with your comment overall but comparing where Detour was at in their mine development timeline compared to BAR, it would suggest the stock is a bit ahead of itself until such point as there is a more formal resource estimate and some initial feasability work out.  Despite their claim that the 2017 program is fully financed (which I don't dispute) reality is they will finance 2018 ...more
