Bullboard - Stock Discussion Forum Horizons ETFs Management (Canada) Inc - BetaPro S&P 500 VIX Short-Term Futures Daily Inverse ETF Class A BTTPF

Post by ezra007 on Aug 26, 2015 11:05am

hvi risk

Current VIX is roughly 33.73, down 2.29

34VX/Q5 is 36.10, up .40

35VX/U5 is 29.45, down .98

36VX/U5 is 26.45, down 1.28

Meaning unless fear is subdued quickly by the feds (ex: by not increasing the rates), we can expect the future vix contracts to catch up to the current level, meaning bad news for HVI.

If we compare HVI to S&P, at 1900, HVI was trading around $ 12. At 1600, HVI trades near $ 10. This could be a reaction to short covering on a VIX ETF. https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-08-26/third-vix-etf-short-short-squeeze-row-sends-stocks-low-day
