Will this every be back to 20?

Any thoughts?

lost 18k by getting into hvi before close yesterday, thinking it was a bargain...

Same with me. I was so sure a market bounce was coming and VIX would calm down. I feel robbed!

Yep, me too... I simply cannot understand why this happened. Not sure if I want to buy in at these levels to average down or stay put with an average of $19. The uncertainty and credibility of this trading instrument has shattered my confidence. For this to recover back to $20, it may take SEVERAL years... probably 3-4 years time (assuming if every year it doubles without an event we just had).

Yup, we are not supposed to fully understand why this is happening. All these Volatility ETF's are thought to be like the Titanic when introduced, and everyone hops on board, but get what. We just hit the Mother of icebergs !! Yup. Even if you bought the HVI one year ago from today, you are down around 80% . That should say it all. From inception, the HVU is down over %99 overall. Just look at ...more

Probably will NOT be back. Remeber, Funds and ETFs are rebalanced every night and start fresh. Last night due to high volatility price or value rather went to almost zero and ETF would have opened at $0.10 if was not halted. So base price for today was just a few pennies. So HVI is today nicely up - what sounds probably like a joke but that's a truth. If Volatility goes back to let's say ...more

From $2.13 to $2.29 in 10 mins 3000 shares I'm out tks you. After reading quite interesting posts here I'm not coming back to risk my valuable cash especially with Horizon weird moves today. Ain't fair, plane and simple. Good luck to all !

I'm not trying to scare anyone here. I have played the HVU and HVI many times, usually in and out trades. They are not meant to hold long term. Once or twice I got stuck in HVU waiting for volatility to spike, and instead watched it trickle lower and lower until I bailed with a loss. They are designed that way. The HVU will not stay level when there is no volatility. The reason is akin to ...more

If Vix crashes 50% this would go 50% so 3 bucks max. this is done they will  do 20:1 like they did with hvu so many times then 20 bucks

These things are designed to destroy the wealth and savings of the common people. They’re all designed to go to zero.

I figure they are designed off load the risk from the big boys to the retail gamblers hence the after hr's rebalancing.
