Assets vs Debt

BXE has (approx) 1.2 Billion in assets and 450 million in debt. That leaves 750 million in shareholder value, a value of around $16.00 per share. Even if they sold off all of their assets at crazy fire sale prices of 1/2 the value of the properties, BXE would still be worth $ 8.00 per share.

Okay then, how about selling all assets at 50% of actual value, paying off all debts and then distrubute the remaining between shareholders? I will take $ 8.00 per share in cash right now!!!

I am sure I am missing something, it cant be that simple.

Seriously though, why not sell the company?  At book value of $ 16.00  per share everone including the Insiders would make a small fortune even if it was sold a a considerable discount with regards to asset value.. Sell Mortimer, sell sell sell (from the movie Trading Places) lol.

The management is not interested in Shareholder benefits. They care about their job and regular paycheques.
