https://www.cnbc.com/id/100622897  • Comex copper speculators at largest net short since the start of 2006 That could be one reason the stock is selling off. People may be shorting the stock as well. I don't think it takes much selling to send this stock a lot lower either.  Last time copper was this shorted it seemed to have risen in early 2006. I have no idea what will happen but ...more

Copper shorts could be caught with there pants down as Copper had a big exit from the Shanghai warehouses yesterday.

Redmetal, Do you think that China is storing significant amounts of unused copper that it could eventually swamp the world market and put copper way down? I have to explore this possibility. Do you think that Copper is stable in the $2-$3+ range for a couple decades? Are the copper grades decreasing rapid enough to make it uneconomical to recover them at less than $1.00lb? What is your opinion for ...more

Half of the mines in the world would shut down at below $2 copper. Most predict a copper surplus over the next 2 years and then it will become real tight again by 2016. China is apparently going to replace and add over 200,000 km of electrical lines over the next 3 years which will require an immense amount of copper, so I dont see it going below $3 over the next few years. How many pounds of Cu do you think the 200,000 km of wire might account for? And how much of the 200,000 km wiring do you think would be copper vs Aluminum? I appreciate your responses.
