IMHO, the Ministry of Mining was probably preoccupied with the opposition to Lithium mining, and it looks like the National Assembly has voted favorably for the mining. Nice find Srid. That does make a lot of sense seeing this having played out. Probably best we didn't see the political battle that must have been going on.  I mean we've seen all the lithium concerns, but the recent vote in parliament. This solidifies things now, even though we are just a fringe actor. Woo!

  Thanks, Myrty, I am relieved that this came from the Parliament. From the Govt's standpoint, the  optics are better, when they award the Exploitation licence. L&L, the reason, Boron got lumped with Lithium, is that the Jadarite, the predominant ore in Jadar is Sodium Lithium Boron Silicate. Boron mining has the same toxicity as salt mining. I believe, BONE

Sure srid, but isn't it strange that they nonetheless associated boron with lithium? It's the extraction of lithium from whatever mineral it's bounded to that's really the main environemental issue. In the Jadar case, the lithium is binded with boron; jadarite - It's the only place in the world that this mineral composition is found. The way the ammendment was worded was

They really meant Boron AND Lithium together. "During the discussion, state officials said there is currently no lithium and boron exploration anywhere in Serbia and that no reserves have been confirmed other than in the Jadar area." But still....

From Piskanja's point of view, real good that they rejected this ammendment but real strange that the wording of the ammendment included boron. "....ban the exploration, mining and processing of lithium and boron ores." The word "and" in the sentence has a different meaning, depending where you are and what you are reffering to.  In the present context, seems they
