Globe's Dowty says Espial looks attractive under $3
2015-09-29 07:19 ET - In the News
The Globe and Mail recommends keeping an eye on Espial Group ($3.12) in its Tuesday, Sept. 29, edition. The Globe's Jennifer Dowty writes that at least six analysts covering the stock rate it "buy." One-year price targets range from $5 to $5.50. Year-to-date returns are 5 per cent or higher. The company is headquartered in Ottawa. Espial has a global reach with research and development offices in Silicon Valley in the United States and in Britain, as well as sales/support offices in the U.S., Europe and Asia. The stock has a market cap greater than $100-million. The consensus revenue estimate is $24.3-million in 2015, rising to $37.9-million in 2016. The consensus earnings per share estimate is six cents a share in 2015, climbing to 23 cents a share in 2016. Ms. Dowty says this is a company with a solid growth potential. However, given current investor risk aversion and market weakness, Ms. Dowty says the stock price could come under near-term pressure. She says if the stock price dips below $3, this would be an attractive entry point. PenderFund Capital Management portfolio manager David Barr said buy Espial in The Globe on Dec. 18, 2014, when it could be had for $1.67.
