Can someone tell me where it's safe to invest in miners?? Recently, I've lost 90% on argonaut, 90% on alexco, 90% on victoria, 100% on stornoway. All of these in CANADA. I only lost one elsewhere...lydian international.

In the old days a good rule of thumb was if you bought ten juniors, six would go bankrupt within threeyears, three would break even or make a couple of bucks,and one might be a five or ten bagger. Not very good odds. On the flip side i have lost a bundle on ma bell..which used to be a widows and orphan stock, gaureenteed to give you a small but decent return.  Nope not any more! I've been investing in gold-silver mining for several years. It's a market that can give excellent returns, up to 200% and more. On the other hand, you're always on the lookout for environmental problems or disasters, permits, political risks and so on. Forget the juniors, go for the big players in the best jurisdictions. I also had shares in AR that came out with a 7% loss ...more
