Great Bear Royalties Corp.

Received a letter in the mail today from TD Direct Investing that it was a non-qualifited investment for my TFSA and SDRSP.  The best option appeared to have it withdrawn and placed in my C$ trading account.

I got the same 2 letters from TD. Says have to pay tax on it...since it has a negative value does CRA owe me money?

Scotia alerted me to this issue months ago and as the royalty stock showed almost no value they did a swap taking the stock out of my TFSA and moving into my cash account and taking some tiny amount of cash and putting it back into the TFSA . Not something I could have done on line so I did have to talk to someone in their Re Org department in TO. Worked out well.

I remember you posting that info. TD is a bit slow. We will have to go transfer them over into a cash account. Thanks.

I just got off the phone with TD and was told I will have to hire a certified cpa to evaluate the price and have them have it transfered.(big bucks)

I'm certain that when my spinco stock was deposited into my TFSA it showed a value but a tiny one ,like maybe a penny. I just looked at my 2 accounts, the TFSA and Cash account where the swaps occured and I see that my bank, Scotia, did it and no cash was involved, they just took the stock out of my TFSA and deposited it into my cash account. It doesn't make sense that TD is putting you ...more

Maybe you should email Great Bears CFO and see if he would be prepared to email TD stating that the Royalty shares have no value or maybe assign a value that's insignificant. Worth a shot and I suspect there are other TD clients who are going to need the help. Good luck.

Ha...get a cpa and send him the  drill results and tell him to guess what the rest of the results will be...and guess what the pog will be and tell him to hurry up...we are all waiting.

I would like to hear from other TD investors if they are haveing the same problem or have had their shares moved. THANKS
Comment by sonofab on Aug 14, 2020 3:07pm
I haven't called yet but how do they give it a value. First of all they have given the shares a negative value. Until a value has been given to the area they are infill drilling now for an initial reserve. Then they can figure out the 2% of just that area. Then what about the rest of the property? But as Goaweigh said they can probably slide the shares over to your cash account and charge you ...more

Then I would open up a cash account in anticipation of transferring them over into it.
Comment by sonofab on Aug 15, 2020 10:26pm
As far as I'm concerned TD just put a value of 1 cent on them. And that's what they put in writing on the paper they sent me that they would steal them from me for a penny in 90 days if I didn't do anything about it. Bunch of faackers. I'll call tomorrow.
