Gen1 vs gen2 vs gen3

I suspect the main difference is gen3 has more silicon than gen2 which has more silicon than gen1. Since silicon is more expensive than graphite, gen3 is more expensive than gen2 which more expensive than gen1. HPQ mgmt, let's have more transparency.

You start by saying you "suspect". Come back with more than just an opinion and bring some facts with you.  Lscfa let's have more intelligence in our posts.

This is a discussion board. He is sharing an intelligent thought on something he would like to know. If you missed it from the earlier videos, there was a discussion that HPQ was increasing the level of SiOx compared to what is known with current batteries.  The opinion is a thought based on facts. Very peculiar that hundreds of pumping posts speculating absurd level of success so early in ...more

Iscfa, While looking up SiOx on the web I came across this website that looks pretty credible. Check this section or others. Silicon oxides for Li-ion battery anode applications: Toward long-term cycling stability If you want to do a deep dive, I hope you're a good swimmer. It can get very technical. Don't count on Bernard to give the recipe of the secret sauce.  ;-) TOCKY8008

Bernard gives a lot but then pulls the secret sauce card.  Kind of funny. The secret sauce is probably technical to the extent that the people he pitches his NRs and videos to would not understand and perhaps himself either.  Nor would not care...the result that matters is $$$ interest. The secret sauce is not the percentage of SiOx being used....any company playing with their own ...more

I agree, and think I has to do with, among other parameters, in the way they're combining SiOx with synthetic graphite. It's not just a mix in a blender. This is a quote (2023) from the same website I posted earlier about SiOx. "Silicon oxides (SiOx, 0 ≤ x ≤ 2) have received extensive attention in the field of energy storage due to their high energy density and ...more

The greater weighting of silicon accounts for the increased capacity, the tinkering with the coating tech accounts for the decreased degradation.

Yes, it is a valid simple way to see it. TOCKY8008

In the end, someone needs to test the product themselves and if they like what they see and want more of it, HPQ will have to be able to produce and deliver required quantities of specific quality. And this is assuming that the economics will not be an issue. Or if they don't want to be in the production business, partnering or licensing or outright sale are possible options. I'd say we ...more

It's moving along, stay tuned as they say. I believe the 200 cycles NR will be this week. At the end of the last video on Agoracom, George mentionned that he's going to Singapore this Saturday and would like to do another interview before leaving if Bernard has results. Bernard was not pessimistic about that. TOCKY8008
