Due to NATO countries stealing Russian assets around the world Russia has passed legislation to confiscated foreign assets as retribution

Kinross sold all their interests in Russia in 2022 to Highland Gold after the invaision of Ukraine (when many other Western companies were exiting Russia) for $ 600 million, but Russia ruled that the sales price was excessive and Kinross only received $ 300 million.
