Oil theft.

Will be very interesting to see if there is any oil theft when Mart gets the new pipeline. Those guys always seem to find a way. Imo>

If you were dirt poor and had a pipe flowing hundreds of thousands of dollars everyday underneath, 12 feet of dirt and a foot of concrete slab wouldn't be that much of a deterrent.  Couple guys with shovels and one jackhammer could probably get through in a month. Over time the pipeline will be tapped, just might take longer than normal.  I'm just hoping that Mart can fill ...more

With so many high tech surveillance tools available, would it make sense tooutsource security-  put sensors in the concrete and install security cameras and use drones etc to monitor the pipeline? It would be a lot less expensive than the losses from the theft. There would have to be a quick response team, but with enough deterents, maybe the thiefs will seek out the ...more

I totally agree with you cardman. I don't understand how these crooks are allowed to get away with the theft of all this oil. Security would be much cheaper than the loss of oil.

Security would be much cheaper than the loss of oil. ============================ I trust many people do not understand the rhetoric of the Security suggestions let alone the challenges involved with it in Nigeria. But, hey why not put the Army with tanks ...more

There are many ways to steal oil from a pipeline, and its not guaranteed that the majority of our loss is even from theft.  If you read the Mart's press releases you see they are looking at the metering and volume reconciliation as possible culprits for this loss.  A problem with the AGIP is that Mart doesn't have any control of the custody transfer meter and has to accept the ...more

I really think with our loses will be close to zero, Agip knows we are building a new pipeline line and we have to pay for this action! Boys we are dealing with the MOB!!! Think about it,>

Who do you expect to implement this "security"? The politicians, who are bought off by the thieves? The Army, which is bought off by the thieves? Or the Police, who are bought off by the thieves?

Was recommending outsourcing to private securty contractors to supplement some relatively low cost actions to act as deterrents- just throwing ideas out there. It does seem far fetched to think the thiefs come in and syphon oil out and then repair the holes they made. Placing sensors in concrete is not uncommmon and it would give you a heads up to potential problems- either the ...more

That's why they tried paying the thieves themselves - with limited success, I guess it just grew new thieves while still paying the old thieves. Terr

Thinking this month we should get news on drilling UMU 11 drilling, UMU 10 total flow rates and our quarterly divy. Pipeline line update would be sweet. too!!>
