This isn't coming back

https://cms.detr.nv.gov/Content/Media/Nevada_Copper_-_WARN_Notice_Statewide_Rapid_Response_Redacted.pdf

Not really new, but documentation and confirmation of some earlier news. In August, there will be 'permanent' layoffs.  Note among those listed are 28 process operators and 40 UG miners. The SMD UD miners left the property several weeks ago. I think there were more of them than PH UG miners.

So folks, there is no movement toward further development or production. This mine is in 'shutdown' mode.

The auction and bankruptcy sale will determine what value, if any, remains for shareholders.

That's it.

I'm here because I'm interested in mining and investment, especially in Nevada. I follow what others say and do, and invest according to my accumulated knowledge of the market and of the particular companies and mines. What I learned by following this board is that there are a lot of misinformed investors, and some downright misleading posters. My take on PH and NCU several years ago was ...more

Cnyman. Good synopsis.  I do not fully agree, as all NCU has done (so far) is prove that the UG is unprofitable, but it could still be. So I personally played this out of interest and entertainment, and for other technical reasons, but always questioned the viability of an UG copper mine. As for the above ground pit operation, that is NOT proven unworkable, in fact there is little to show ...more

Kent, your reasonable comment deserves a reasonable response, so thank you. In full disclosure, I've known several professionals who worked at PH over the past several years. I knew, from one of them, of the dike failures and UG water issues before those issues appeared on this board or were discussed publicly by NCU.   Two years earlier, I had heard from another professional that ...more

Cnynman Thank you for your reasoned and informative reply. I still do not discount the pit as much as you do. A large resource there ready for developing, and I know from many that getting a project permitted is not a minor issue. Your scenario may play out as you say, but maybe not. What is your take on the majority shareholders directors resigning, do those with the most to lose, decide to ...more

KW, I was genuinely surprised by the Pala and Mercuria resignations. Equally surprised that Pala was not the initial source of funding through the DIP process. I have long believed that Pala was in the long game of allowing other investors to build infrastructure while then triggering bankruptcy so that they could end up with the entire property with a 70% investment. This may still be the end ...more

Cnynman I see it possible for a lowball Stalking horse to just offer enough to pay the debts, nothing left for the shareholders. I also see it possible if more than one wants it, to get an offer that pays the debts cash, and share trade for the shareholders. Easy for any of the majors to do and pick up a nice permitted property. KW

"I had heard from another professional that ..." I once had a man on another board supporting his view by boasting he had over 15 years’ experience in mining. Turned out his only contact was with the driver’s seat of a dump truck. Claiming that “professionals” freely shared insider information with you suggests that these “professionals” are guilty of a criminal act and are at least ...more

Dragon - exchanging 'insider information' only becomes illegal if one acts on it for financial gain.  Otherwise it can be dismissed as 'cocktail banter'. Better stick to climate change.

"Otherwise it can be dismissed as 'cocktail banter'." You didn't indicate what you did with this information.  Apparently, you were sharing it with others, who may have acted upon it.     No doubt the “cocktail banter” defense has been raised many times and with evidence of insider trading it falls flat onto its face.  But then I don’t try to ...more
