12:51 PM EST, 11/08/2018 (MT Newswires) -- Fort St James Nickel (FTJ.V) was up 6.7% after the company on Thursday said it has launched its 2018 exploration drilling program at the Porcupine Base Metal - Precious Metal - Rare Earth Element property in New Brunswick.

The company said the program will concentrate on areas of base metal and silver mineralization discovered during a 2012 trenching program carried out by Great Atlantic Resources (GR.V).

Fort St James agreed in 2017 to acquire up to a 100% interest in the property through an option agreement with Great Atlantic.

The company said its drilling permit allows a 10-hole program.

Fort St James shares were last seen up $0.02 to $0.32 on the TSX Venture Exchange after earlier touching $0.35
