Restaurant spending decreasing?

I saw a line from RBC saying that their credit card holders are reducing their spending on restaurants.  Whether RBC credit card holders are representative of all credit card holders, I don't know.

I thought I'd pass it on although I'm no longer in SRV.UN and have no intention of reentering.

To be expected as pent-up demand to get out of the house and back to dining out wanes. But, the flipside to this is a travel boom as people venture back on to planes and head to sunny destinations, Europe, Asia and the rest of the world. So many friends and relatives of mine are travelling by air this year, the first time since 2019. One reason why I am bullish on CHR and HOT. I will keep my ...more

To follow up on this... AMEX reported record cardholder spending this morning and a dividend boost thanks in part to the rebound in travel and dining. AMEX is a top tier card, so the ones with discretionary income continue to spend and likely at the better quality restos. SRV is not the cheapest out there in their sector so today's AMEX news might be a positive for the SRV chain. https://www ...more
