Almost 160K shares traded this morning. Bid $0.77, ask $0.78, looking like a great start.  What does the L2 look like now, it was looking great prior to trading this morning. Thank you in advance!
Comment by chizzles on Aug 19, 2024 10:31am
Correction, 230K shares traded if we are including the alternate exchanges.
Comment by TwelveBagger on Aug 19, 2024 10:42am
I felt obligated to grab some more at 0.78 :)

Fun day so far, back up to 0.8 (where it should have been imho). Seems retail is holding as the ask remains thin.
Comment by whoisyourpapa on Aug 19, 2024 11:38am
With the stock up .04 on friday right before the close I thought we might see a bit of a pull-back this morning but nope we are super resilient!!! whois
Comment by chizzles on Aug 19, 2024 11:42am
I was expecting the same thing Whois. Also, from the L2 that Look4Profit posted (thank you), it looked like there was going to be a bit of resistance at $0.78/0.79/0.80, and we just plowed through that.
Comment by chizzles on Aug 19, 2024 1:08pm
Now that we have entered the $0.80's, would you be able to post the L2 again? I'm curious to see how it looks.  Thank you again in advance and I wont ask anymore today lol

thanks L4P! if only that 234,500 @0.71 would click market instead of limit lol we would be at $3.40!!
Comment by chizzles on Aug 19, 2024 1:36pm
That is looking really good, not much resistance at all (although they keep adding on the ask). Hopefully the 234500 shares @ $0.71 can move up a little. We have a lot of support from $0.58 to $0.72. Let get those closer to the high $0.70's! Thank you again.

Comment by QuarterDollar on Aug 19, 2024 2:15pm
I bought a couple of boat loads under $0.50........ to buy at $0.80....UGH! Actually, I can't wait until dividends are paid......... I can retire on dividends.

@Telemarker   I tend to agree, however if there is some extra profits generated, I think LB will do a one time special dividend to all longtime and dedicated shareholders.  Almonty is a tier 1 company, and a one time dividend would illustrate this company cares equally about shareholders as well as customers, partners, the community, etc.
Comment by whoisyourpapa on Aug 20, 2024 11:44am
I wouldn't worry about it.  This will be sold long before any need to talk about dividends.  This management team's MO is that they are "flippers".  I know this is a touchy topic for some people but LB pretty much stated that this is in the works. . . These kinds of deals take years to put together of course but it would happen before any need to consider ...more
Comment by chizzles on Aug 20, 2024 12:26pm
I'm personally not a fan of them flipping, even though I get that impression also (LB continuously says how we he got 40x for Pan). If we get anything near 40x (I'd be happy with way less than that lol), we are all very rich. My biggest issue with a sale is for tax reasons. We are going to need to pay taxes on the entire amount instantly, and in a higher bracket (especially if you are ...more

Well Chizzles I hope you maxed out your TFSA with this stock as much as possible.  For me overall it would make my overall tax percentage pretty low between mine and my wife's TFSAs whois
Comment by chizzles on Aug 20, 2024 12:37pm
I do have a lot in my TFSA, but not only there.  If we ever got anything near 40x, even at $0.50, that would come to $20 a share. Just 25,000 shares would then we worth a half a million dollars. That said, I don't think we will get 40x. Any thoughts or expections on what would be a fair amount per share if we flipped?
Comment by TwelveBagger on Aug 20, 2024 2:18pm
I would be disappointed if it was flipped for less than a 10x - obviously hopeful for any more than that! Every share my wife and I hold are in our TFSA luckily 40x would be unreal and that's what they flipped their last mine for $$$$ What does everyone else think?
Comment by whoisyourpapa on Aug 20, 2024 2:38pm
Obviously all of these valuations are pretty Pie-in-the-Sky right now but with how I see IMC positioning itself I wouldn't be surprised if they would like to control the region in terms of Tungsten including downstream etc. . . IMC is probably the best bet for any potential takeover but I won't complain if we have to wait for dividends instead.  What a position to be in to be honest. ...more

I cannot imagine dividends would ever be paid while they have debt on the books. I imagine the the loan agreement likely has provisions against it as well until the loan is paid. Companies that cant grow or find better uses for cash give it back. Im sure this company would look at acquisitions first or such.

Just having fun here... "Pursuant to the Arrangement Agreement, on closing each common share of Woulfe will be exchanged for 0.1029 of a common share of Almonty. Based on Almonty’s share price on July 6, 2015, this represents total consideration of $0.07 per Woulfe share and a premium of 16.7% to Woulfe’s closing price on July 6, 2015. Comment by 1dollarinto2 on Aug 20, 2024 4:44pm
Your math confuses me. I believe the news release from back in 2015 says .07 per share. At that time Woulfe had about 363 million shares outstanding so the purchase price for Woulfe was about $25 million. If you want to stick with the 40x idea then that is about $1 billion. With Almonty currently valued at about $200 million, then 5x from here. I would gladly take $4 per share for Almonty ...more

Comment by TechOne on Aug 21, 2024 1:11am
How about  $ 10 + as a buyout..  Say within 2-3 year ? would you take it.. Considering where Almonty will be in 2-3 years + resources in the ground ie 80 year mine life etc. etc.  Mind you, LB is not that old so he may not want to take the money and run but who knows..  Every one has their price..  But first thing first..  Let's hear about the the start of the ...more

You are probably right, I thought that I might have been off somewhere. If 363 million WOF shares became 37,352,700 Almonty shares (363 mil x .1029), and those now 37 million Almonty shares cost $25 million, I don't think that is right either. I don't think we would calculate all of Almonty's shares to get to the 40x, I think it would be the the equivalent of 37 million shares since ...more

My other thought: If there is a takeover, which I think we expect, will with be for Sangdong only? Sangdong Tungsten only (and we keep the Moly)? Will Panasqueira, Los Santos or Valtreixal be involved? The Muguk Gold Mine that we all forgot about? If the takeover would be for Sangdong Tungsten only, not only should we get a huge return on that portion, but we will still own with a lot of value ...more

I also have a lot in my TFSA`s as well as RRSP`s. TFSA`s are better in the case of a sell out but if there isn`t enough room then RRSP`s are only taxed when you start drawing from them so it saves from the new capital gains tax.
Comment by QuarterDollar on Aug 21, 2024 10:53am
Be wary of your investments and trading patterns in a TFSA because you can be severely taxed.  It is only tax free if you comply with Revenue Canada rules.
Comment by Look4Profit on Aug 21, 2024 11:13am
You're right QD. The main issue is that they don't want people day trading in their TFSA so multiple daily/weekly/monthly transactions would throw up a red flag. However I don't think that any of us here are "flipping" our Almonty shares back and forth as the price fluctuates. I'm pretty sure we're more of a buy and hold crowd which wouldn't be against those laws. ...more
Comment by chizzles on Aug 21, 2024 11:16am
That is how I've always interpreted the rules also. I'm pretty sure we are safe, buying a stock a holding for 10 years or so before we sell.
Comment by QuarterDollar on Aug 21, 2024 11:55am
No..... you can't just buy any stock for your TFSA. It has to be a qualified stock from a qualified exchange. (Plus day trading is not allowed)
Comment by Look4Profit on Aug 21, 2024 12:03pm
Also true, but I don't see how Almonty wouldn't be qualified and reputable brokerage houses usually block unqualified companies from being traded in specific accounts so no worries here.
Comment by QuarterDollar on Aug 21, 2024 12:08pm
@Look4Profit There might have been an issue with Almonty stock when purchasing it on the venture exchange before graduating to the TSX.  But I think the saving grace was when the stock on the TSX dropped below the price on the venture exhange.   I haven't looked into it yet.
Comment by Look4Profit on Aug 21, 2024 12:49pm
That`s a good point, and any available info is quite murky. From what I've read I do feel pretty safe about it but will definitely have my fingers crossed when the time comes :)
Comment by whoisyourpapa on Aug 21, 2024 1:02pm
Just don't day trade the stock in your TFSA and you'll be fine. . .
Comment by chizzles on Aug 21, 2024 12:06pm
Agreed. But I think Almonty counts as qualified. They are trading on the TSX, not the TSX Venure. And at the time of us selling, I am assuming it will be worth many dollars per share. I think penny stocks, day trading, etc would not qualify. Almonty will. Especially if we are holding for over a decade.
Comment by TechOne on Aug 21, 2024 12:57pm
For your information, TSX Venture is a qualified exchange...  You can buy and hold shares in TFSA for any company that trades on TSX-V ...  You cannot buy shares on US side that trades OTC or Pink sheets..  FWIW

Holding penny plays of TSX-V in TFSA is not the problem..  Easy enough to find out when you try to buy a stock in TFSA that trades on Venture because your broker and the online platform will allow it..  The problem account holder will run into with CRA is if you start trading it aggressivvly..  Because eventually CRA will come to know if you are using TFSA as a short term trading ...more
