love all the folks claiming he sold.  Shows you how full of $hit some on this board are.  Also, those same folks are crazy if they dont think Eric was at the table for this deal and ninepoint isnt getting a piece of the note offering.

Definitely weird...morningstar .ca and .com have totally different numbers... ninepoint partners lp on the .com side has 45,000,000 again (as of sept 30, up 7,000,000: https://www.morningstar.com/stocks/xtse/ath/ownership .ca ninepoint parners lp is still 35,000,000 also sept 30, down 10,000,000: https://www.morningstar.ca/ca/report/stocks/ownership.aspx?t=0P0000NOGC&lang=en-CA lol...who ...more

That being said, the .ca numbers make more mathematical sense in terms of it being to more up to date number X - 10,000,000= 35,000,000 35,000,000 + 10,000,000 = 45,000,000 versus .com X + 7,000,000 = 45,000,000 45,000,000 - 7,000,000 = 38,000,000 On the funds tab in .com (as of Aug 31) the company states that number of shares in 45M. 45M minus 10M is 35M, the number on .ca as of Sept 30 ...more

Agreed, Eric will continue to trim or outright sell his position as the price of Ath gets closer to his actual decision making charts vs his illustrative charts that many of us utilize. He is a energy growth investor that has to beat the sector performance to earn the bonus in his one fund. That being said, I respect this buy and sell with no loyalty to any stock, once he gets the performance and ...more

My guess: Ninepoint has been selling on the ETF side, and been buying for another fund. It is quite likely they increased their overall stake in September by 7 million shares.

Like I've been saying he's been selling. He's moving up market for the most part. His fund is growing, over $700ml in AUM. He could move back in once the valuations in the larger cos expand, as the spread isn't that wide. Plus he thinks the buybacks and increase divy announcements will propel those stock, while it might take a while before ATH gets there. So expect continued ...more

while we can't be 100%, the last few days have seen extremely high levels of institutional dumping. On Friday alone I noticed over 18,000,000 shares were traded on the ATS. Probaby Ninepoint jumping ship after a quick ride up. The easy money was made. Athabasca will go back to being a permanently impaired sheetco with zero insider alignment now and a history of poor decision making. The deal ...more

I would not be surprised if Ninepoint  sold out some or all of their position in the past week. Based on the past, Nuttall usually uses a transformational news event to create enough liquidity to sell. If in fact he was able to liquidate his positon and  the share price stilll stayed above the warrants strike price, thats a good thing and shows that the bottom is in. Athabasca is in a ...more

So oil price has nothing to do with this ? LMAO Are you selling your best torque poducer and go haywire in some crouded trade in some big caps. I said this to lovehockey you are no investor and seems to me this is exactly the point proven once again.

Well, the dude needs to continue beating the XEG....hes not married to any particular stock, and flips them if/when he chooses....hence the super high portfolio turnover rate Even his long time "favorites" MEG, BTE and CPG are either gone or substanatially pared down as of end of sept. Replaced by the likes of Nuvista and Suncor, which he also owned fairly recently and traded out of... ...more

And baytex doubled since he sheepishly admitted he may have made a mistake. Based on my cynical familiarity with how Bay Street works, Eric has had a spectacular year by buying stocks like bte and Ath. A once or twice in a career kind of year. He gets paid a performance bonus that is based on the performance of his fund over a benchmark. It's a 700 million dollar fund. I read somewhere what ...more

So I looked it up in the prospectus and report on management performance. As at June 30 For the period ended June 30, 2021, the Fund accrued $2,351,466 of incentive fees. the index is the tsx capped energy index. Since June 30 the fund has widened the outperformance gap so Eric's bonus is looking good for year end and its big enough it must influence his holdings and trading. The good thing ...more

They will use whatever capital losses and expenses they have to offset the cap gains.  I dont believe the carry forward losses are that great. The fund at its lowest point was 30ml.
