Canada’s economy

Is a lot weaker than it appears. Inflation is now at risk of turning into deflation with the unemployment rate sitting at 6.5%. Don't be deceived into thinking the situation has improved over the last month as a change in labour participation rate can artificially lower the unemployment rate. It's simple math. 

You should expect an increase in unemployment rate over the coming months as the labour force participation rate normalizes. My base case is that Canada's unemployment rate will trough at over 8% if measured correctly.

Yes the consumer is pinched with high rates and high inflation.  This is just not ending well. Fortunately, reits will rally the bigger and bolder the rate cuts become
