Great post momocau. Everybody should take time to read it this morning. Hopefully market regulation will react soon which should severely slowdown naked short selling

Good article Momo. Let's hope this is true. That they curb naked shorting, once in for all. Of course putting the "uptic rule" back would do it for sure. But if all these recomendations, are implemented? It will help a lot in the shorting and covering periods time, and naked shorting in particular. Keep our fingers crossed. This will really help the Bomber shares. All those fake ...more

good post and i hope regulators will really do something good to clean up this un controlled manipullation on the other hand,  this issue has been raised many times, regulatores has looked into it many times and the results was always the same, nothing is done to controll this behavier and at least apply same rulls applied in us markets most big shorters in canadian markets are Americans ...more

Believe it or not there is no federal securities legislation. It is all down to provincial regulators despite calls since 1964 for a national policy. This way the Bank of Canada can say it is not up to them as do the feds. Banks do what they want with the governments blessing. Ontario SEC makes there own rules. Last change was in 2009 when Mark Carney set up the naked short sell. Still under ...more

What a croq...This is simply lio service based on all the complaints. The issue really is that In this jurisdiction naked short selling is allowed and if they don't crack down on that..all the rest is strictly BS.  Here they say that they imply that they borrow shares before they short..that is the first and biggest lie !!!

Funny how just a year ago after the macmillan report on shorting and how they portayed the abuse and the naked short selling that is in all essence legal in Canada, IIROC came back with an answer that they saw no problemo with the rules as they are set. The lobbyists such as the trading platforms and houses have their profits driven by liquidity and they are only too happy to allow naked short ...more
