Following the crowd (the market) or being ahead?

When I found exceptional situations, I look seriously at everything about the company i watched and I invest a lot of money on it. Bombardier is 40% of my portfolio, 30% less than 6 months ago. That means that  I am looking at everything about it. I will be the first to move if something happens.

It was the recipe I follow to invest massively in it 2020 when the crowd tought that it will go bankrupt. Only an exaustive examination of all the element of the Bombardier proposition was able to show me the quality of the Bomber niche at the time, largely before the crowd. .... the return was ......

I did the same with Air Canada in 2012 investing massively in the 1 $ shares of Air Canada when the crowd tought that it will go bankrupt. Again, there was a large difference between the crowd sentiment and the reality of the Air Canada niche.

I did the same in the financial crisis when the crowd tought that the Canadian banks had the same problems than the US. Theirs financial statements (and others documents)  showed me a different story.

Exceptional return needs real work, not only waiting the quaterly results.

The choice between following the crowd or no.

Hi, do you have a good stock opportunity other than bombardier?

Not as good a Bombardier.    Growth, stability, management  meeting the objectives, increasing EBITDA and FCF, positive biz jet  market, strong business  plan. On the risk side: suppliers challenges, tariffs.  These risk are low to medium; manageables. The Bombardier proposition is not as beautifull as in the 2020-2024 period but it is the current best one in my mind ...more

Tempo, I spend a lot of time looking for the next opportunity and right now I have yet to see an opportunity as good as BBD.  I know eventually I have to sell but that's at least 1 year out, probably more.  Still scouting and am happy to flip back and forth other opportunties if you are interested down the road

I agree that bbd.b is still the best opportunity to make money for us. Keeping most of my shares for the $200 mark. That being said, would love to hear from others in the coming months what they think the next big opportunity will be.

In simple words, Bombardier is the most predictable positive stock on the market.
Comment by Tempo1 on Jan 03, 2025 10:18am
.....predictable in the long term meaning, it is still volatile in the short term.
Comment by Letsmakemoredol on Jan 03, 2025 11:17am
Tempo, completely agree its predictable in the long term and starting to take advantage of the huge swings in the short term.  As my dad used to say if you can't beat them, join them.  I can't stop the swings so might as well take advance and pick up a quick 10-15% every month or so Long term, still the best investment out there.  With that said I know I have to keep my ...more
