They just rasied their divy last quarter. What are you expecting, an increase every quarter. No company that I know of does that.

BNS announced a dividend of $1.03/share on August 23, in conjunction with Q3 results (see https://stockhouse.com/news/press-releases/2022/08/23/scotiabank-announces-dividend-on-outstanding-shares). They also announced a dividend or $1.03/share on May 25, in conjunction with the Q2 results (see https://stockhouse.com/news/press-releases/2022/05/25/scotiabank-announces-dividend-on ...more

Good for you SargeX. Still taking time to explain investing 101 to so many people. Personally, I am way more conerned with the rst of the Scotia report, glad I got out early in 2022 and didn't get back in. The new CEO doesn't sit well either. With RBC and TD to buy, and I have a bunch apready, see no reason to take a chance on BNS. They have underperfomred significantly for the last 10 ...more

Hey Dean Always trying to do what I can.  :-) BNS is quite an interesting one for me and I've changed my view on it recently. I've been doing a bit of work on portfolio allocation and have come up with a slightly different categorization, We always used to hold an equal book value for all of our 16 stocks and had ZWB as a mid-sized position. I've now decided to have two tiers ...more

I guess we're splitting hairs a bit, but for clarity BNS last raised the dividend in July of 2022 (3% or $0.03 increase) and prior to that it was January 2021 (11.11% or $0.10).   Before that we'd have to go to October 2019 for a dividend raise.  Prior to COVID they consistenly raised every other quarter (2 & 4), so the lack of an announcement to raise the dividend is ...more

I don't want to go on about this too mcuh by their pattern is generally to raise the divy every 2nd quarter so they are not out of step. Here's a table from the BNS website by quarter within each year. They missed a few increases when they were stuck at $0.90 but have now resumed their every 2nd quarter pattern. FY 2018 $0.79 $0.82  ...more

I should also add that the OSFI froze all bank dividend increases for a period of time and that's the main/only reason BNS didn't raise their divy when they were at $0.90.
