company.   That's not what I would expect if company going bankrupt.

I do not know what information you are looking at. Nobody that I know of is talking about bankruptcy. Looking at the June 30 2023 six month financial statements for BPY I see a net loss of US$852,000,000 compared to a profit of US$2,212,000,000 for the first six months of 2022. I don't see anything that is hinting towards bankrupcy. However, the prefs trading like they are going bankrupt. Probably a great long term buy.

Sorry, oilinvestor52 post better describes what I was trying to say.    Prefs trading like they are going bankrupt.....  But what I was trying to say, to counter that point, was that money (Capital) pouring into the company !!! Company grew over $17.5 Billion in last 6 months !!!! So while Prefs trading like they are going bankrupt, what's happening with the company seems ...more

Hard to imagine that Brookfield would default on the BPO prefs as it would hurt thier reputation hard. If you add up all the BPO prefs it basically adds up to a rounding error compared to the assets of the conglomerate so defaulting is unlikely. If they default on BPO or any other prefs in thier universe the entire house of cards would come off in a very substantial way.

A company as Big as Brookfield is bound to make "mistakes", bad investments.  The key is to keep the mistakes small.    I believe they are willing to lose a finger to save the arm.
