As Eric said buybacks will bring the stock price higher

I know many here said the buybacks was stupid bla bla .... but all along I said buybacks are the key , why cause if institutions divest in oil stocks and retail are afraid of the transition and won't invest in oil over time , as Eric said , oil companies will buyback their shares cheap thus make the stock price going up with time .... and for Baytex at 5$ the share is a good deal , those who buy now will enjoy later ps as long oil stay 80$ plus .....

You mentioned a very good point here (if oil stays $80+), so if oil stays $80+ the SP will go up regardless of buying back or not, so it is not the buyback that causes SP increase rather it is the oil price, in which case even if they don't buyback and reduces the debt instead still the SP will go up, but what if oil drops to $70 or lower in a week, then buyback will support the SP or low debt ...more

Buybacks always improved stock price when oil up it just logically more as they buybacks more but if oil going to to 70$ well they may not buyback as much but all depend how long stayed at 80$ before it get to 70$ , if it's 2026 then the sp may not go down as much as now .....
