Nice setup taking place for Q3 release.

Oil going up care of Middle East turmoil with potential Iranian oil lost to market and OPEC spare capacity gobbled up to mitigate super extreme spike in prices.

Inflation remaing in check notwithstanding impact of oil prices in an extended affair over seas.

US election coming to a close within weeks.

Q4 guidance going to absolutely stellar.

Oh yeah, oil fundamentals remain strong even though masked by all the noise out there.

I agree with everything you say but these words caught my attention ":Q4 guidance going to absolutely stellar". So I guess Q3 actual earnings not so stellar. Those are great words that we have heard many times and then when the actual results come out we are left quite disappointed. Hopefully one of these quarters they actually over deliver and surprise to the upside.
Comment by HeavyBanana on Oct 07, 2024 10:45am
Well, considering expenditures are guided to be about the same as Q2 in Q3 and Q4 is where a huge reduction in expenditures will take place, yeah, stellar comes to mind to describe Q4 results ...... for me anyway.

Ya I know. I would like to be more optomistic but it's always next quarter. But I am still long so I hope you are right. Will find out in Late February.

Heavy Banana, So why was oil going down in the same conditions of mideast conflict?
Comment by HeavyBanana on Oct 07, 2024 10:46am
Kelvin, I guess the threat of Iranian oil being taken out is more "real" now?
Comment by Kelvin on Oct 07, 2024 10:48am
HB, Yeah, makes sense. Higher probability now.

But Iranian oil not taken out until after Nov 5 presidential elections in US. Israel doesn't want to provoke economic, high inflation turmoil in the US right now. Well, you might be on to something. Goid bte financials Q3 eith wti goilg up after Nov 5 as Israel takes supply off of the market. Geez, buy call options. Bte is listed on the Montreal options exchange.

No need to wait for the US election. The Kharg Island terminal where 90% to 95% of Iranian oil is shipped from is already offline.  https://www.cnbc.com/2024/10/04/iran-oil-tankers-disappear-from-local-port-amid-israel-attack-fears-satellite-images-show.html Hard to ship oil when all of the crude carriers are afraid to be anywhere near the Kharg Island terminal. Kharg Island oil needs to pass through the Strait@s of Hormuz. They have a new terminal in the Gulf of Oman. "Rouhani said Iran aimed to export 1 million barrels per day (bpd) of oil from Bandar-e Jask, a port on Iran's Gulf of Oman coast, just south of the Strait of Hormuz. In other words Iran could shut down Straits of Hormuz and still ship oil. But I guess that  Israel could blow ...more
