Could you image were we could of possibly be in share price if we didn't go a head with this Ranger deal! Looka like every few weeks baytex gets down  graded! Really hope management know what  the hell there doing here!

They've received 79.53 in the 12 months following the Ranger deal. Paid down < 200 in debt.  I think it is time for some hard questions to be asked.  Starting with needing to spend 1.3 B in cap ex to keep production flat.  And all the BS in their presentations about increased per share metrics is obscured noise because they're using huge amounts of fcf to lower the ...more

You're right--it's time for hard questions--for example: Was the Ranger purchase worth the price paid? The price paid (and debt incurred) to buy Ranger was thought to be justified by the notion that Baytex could use superior technology to get a lot more bang per buck out of Eagle Ford than Ranger did. This assumption has turned out to be false, in my opinion..

They paid to much for the reserves they got.Management only cared about keeping thier fat checks and bonuses intact. When we go in to a recession, and we will, Oil possibly goes into the 50s, Theirs not of enought reserves to recover from the price they paid. This management team is the most incompetent team in North America.I never seen a company so deserving of a proxy fight.BTE board of ...more

Once more, they should focus on maximizing eagleford & Duvernay by selling heavy oil assets. Pay down the debt, while optimizing light oil assets and reducing cost.

That's why they should sell heavy oil assets! Focus on being Duvernay & eagleford light oil.

Light oil is a great source for gasoline. Heavy oil is a great source for diesel, kerosebe, aviation fuel I'd produce both. Plus they produce nat gas and nat gas liquids. So they have lots of opportunities to generate revenue streams. Plus they have an impressive proven reserve base. Imo, their sp is not reflecting their potential EV for some reason. The market doesn't like something ...more

There's been significant cost inflation which is making it difficult (if not impossible) to pay down debt  When they acquired Ranger, I believe they were quoting 1 billion fcf at 75 wti. Well, they got 79.53 wti in the year following the Ranger deal and didn't even reduce debt by 200. Based on forecast at the time of the deal, they should have paid 500-600 in debt at this point ...more

Yeah I'd like more detail on the Eagle Ford wells. All of them. I'm reading on other sites that parts of the formation is very "gassy". If they're getting too low an oil-gas ratio and not set up to monetize the abundant gas yet, then investors should know I would think. If that's the case then this stock should fly once they get set up to produce gas because lots of ...more

Kelvin you're missing the point. Baytex is not a large company like Shell, and they should therefore focus on their core business, which is now light oil. Presently, they have a mishmash of assets, as if they're XOM. I say, sell the heavy oil assets to pay down debt and focus on optimizing eagleford & Duvernay.

So if, say, 15 million cubic feet per day of gas comes up with their light oil, then they should just flare it off?  Excerpt from below link: "Eagle Ford Gas Boom Sital Mody, natural gas president at energy infrastructure company Kinder Morgan Inc. (NYSE:KMI), is highly bullish on the Eagle Ford's natural gas prospects. Mody has predicted strong production growth by the ...more
