What REALLY sucks.....

A few years back I bought 100 shares at 17$... became a " bagholder" all the way down to .35 cents or whatever....never bought more. Still have my 100 shares.

I was somewhat similar but at $4.60 in 2018, I didn't buy at the lows when we should have, but I have added at 5.05 early this year and looking at maybe adding more.  My pain on this isn't as bad as yours on this one... but wait for the next 2+ and start laughing at me... I bought 207 shares of CPG for $30.05 during the major crash, I think I jumped in when it was at 75/oil ...more

there's an old quote that goes time in the markets is better than timing the market. In your case, even with a few bad breaks on buy and hold you've still doubled in 8 years which is a 9% return annually. That's solid. Had you thrown a few more bucks at some of the oil stocks when they were near the lows you'd be sitting on more of the 3-5x you mentioned. I got out of the markets ...more

  Thanks! But really that's the thing, don't let the losers get you to low or your winners get you too high, stick at it and try and make decisions your comfortable with. Sometimes you will draw into great timing by your own analysis, other times it will be luck, some gains will just be time in the market and organic growth from it... but sometimes you will pick a good company at ...more
