June 30 th shorts

Numbers out for closing  shorts and basically no move from the 15 th after it had been reduced by about 20 % in the two prior periods. 

so the usual short uptick that occurs after the quarterly dividend cut off and replaces pretty much the whole change, did not repeat for this quarter. It would either be a result of the latest Budget rules or perhaps the stock is getting too low and costs are too high for the risk : or some combination of all???

Just to add to your comment for those who are not familiar with the latest budget rules. The federal government plans to tweak tax laws to remove the breaks given to big financial institutions that are benefiting from complicated hedging strategies on dividend-paying stocks. The budget released Thursday calls it the “double-deduction loophole,” which allows some Canadian financial institutions ...more
