debt

That is CVE main target, i am very sure that they will direct  at least 70% of FCF to debt, the dividend will be second thoughts. Of course they may surprise us like SU. But i think debt is the target #1.

Agree from CVE and industry as a whole (and debt less should acquire the debt laden). But a reasonable divi should be a given otherwise retired investors have to sell shares if they need the income which means buybacks = divi esp for tax advantaged accounts. I have a lot of cve but did not buy more as I dont know what AP/KM have decided on debt, COP and dividends going forward. It'll be ironic ...more

I really dont see a problem for retirees on income with CVE, if they are paying debt down in large quanities then this stock will escalated in price in mega dollars, later they will set a large portion towards the dividend like SU, Our divident by next year will be one of the best payouts i believe. I would be happy with 25.00  s/p and a .50 dividend at the end of next year.

Most of the majors are paying  a divvy. cnq, su, wcp all pay a healthy one.. I hope cve follows suit ..

AP has been clear in interviews.  He won't do anything until the debt hits 10B.  It's likly that it went to 11 and change by end fo Q3, and will hit 10B by end of Q4. He's also hinted that share buy backs will follow, which is why he's likely talking to COP about their shares  (or part thereof) for Q1/Q2, along with more debt reduction.
